A Flint woman who was sent to prison in June for the stabbing death of her mother's boyfriend was recently resentenced to jail and probation. Genesee Circuit Judge Geoffrey L. Neithercut told Tanjermeeka M. Jones, 21, of Mt. Morris, he was not able to sentence her to prison even though "you killed a man and you deserve to go to prison for that." He then sentenced Jones to 1 year in the Genesee County Jail, 5 years' probation.

A Flint man pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the May slaying of his girlfriend after an argument. Genesee Circuit Judge Judith A. As a father of four children, a youth counselor and an assistant prosecuting attorney, I was annoyed and concerned about the baseless claims made in the March 31 front page article "Flint students accuse lesbians of harassment." Printing accusations of aggression attributed to one's sexual orientation, without any statistics or proof, does nothing more than stir the pot of discrimination and incite fear and contempt in our schools and community.
