As a father of four children, a youth counselor and an assistant prosecuting attorney, I was annoyed and concerned about the baseless claims made in the March 31 front page article "Flint students accuse lesbians of harassment." Printing accusations of aggression attributed to one's sexual orientation, without any statistics or proof, does nothing more than stir the pot of discrimination and incite fear and contempt in our schools and community.

A Flint woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death in June pleaded no contest Tuesday to voluntary manslaughter. Felicia K. Thornton, 47, faces an Oct. 18 sentencing before Genesee Circuit Judge Geoffrey L. Neithercut. Thornton was charged with second-degree murder in the June 3 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Anthony Holmes, 42, of Flint, at the Evergreen Regency apartments off Lippincott Boulevard. That charged carried a penalty of up to life in prison.
